Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born March 22, 1976. Her numerous accolades include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. Forbes also named her one the 100 Most Powerful Women of the World in 2019. Forbes declared her the world's highest-earning actress in 2021. She has an estimated fortune of $400 million. Witherspoon made her screen debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, she achieved her first breakthrough in the role of a leading role of a support in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for her portrayal of Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her role in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) led to her being recognized more widely. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a dip in career, the only box office success was Water for Elephants (2011). Witherspoon returned to the screen by producing and starring in Wild (2014). She got an additional Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress. Witherspoon has continued to work primarily in television and has performed and produced in a variety of adaptations of literary written by women under the name Hello Sunshine.
