Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington has been television personality, journalist writer, television philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. She also is the owner of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. Born in Greece she moved to England in the year 16 and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. She was the first student non-UK to hold the office of the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. Then she became a conservative syndicated journalist after graduating and, when The Huffington Post launched a few years after, she created an online platform to voice opinions that gave criticisms of the political landscape. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors to post their perspectives on news, politics as well as culture. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 after she decided to be independently in the California recall election to replace the Governor Davis. Alongside this, she led the Detroit project that promoted fuel efficient cars. Forbes identified her as being the 12th-highest ranked woman in the media industry in 2009 and Guardian added her to the list of Top 100 media in that same year. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the head of its media division, which also included the other AOL properties like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. Konstantinos was a business consultant as well as a journalist. Although she was close to her father it was the relationship she shared with her mother that shaped her future. While in her formative years, she exhibited leadership skills for which are still in high demand. At 16 years of age she relocating to the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. When she was in the college years, she joined the debating organization Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. After graduating in 1972, she received a master's degree in Economics. She worked as a music critic as well as a host on TV as well as a columnist following her graduation. Also, she appeared along with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editorial assistance.
